Hello again, does somebody have any experiences with proportional hazard models with R/Bioconductor and can give me a suggestion where to find a good description or (better) a lab on this stuff? Thanks in advance, Heike

I second the motion...Kleinbaum is the most accessible introduction to the topic I have found (he also has an excellent self learning text on Logistic Regression). After Kleinbaum, another option is Modelling Survival Data in Medical Research edited by Chatfield and Zidek...but this is much more mathematically intensive (though also much broader in scope) than Kleinbaum. -Eric -----Original Message----- From: bioconductor-bounces@stat.math.ethz.ch on behalf of Margaret Gardiner-Garden Sent: Wed 11/9/2005 8:34 PM To: 'Heike Pospisil'; bioconductor at stat.math.ethz.ch Subject: Re: [BioC] proportianal hazard models Dear Heike, My "trusty" reference is S-PLUS 2000 Guide to Statistics, Volume 2 (1999) The Cox Proportional Hazards Model Chapter 10. You should be able to download it at http://biostat.hitchcock.org/FacultyandStaff/OnlineManuals/PDF%20Files /statm an2.pdf If you feel up to reading a detailed book you could get "Modeling Survival Data" Terry M. Thernaeu and Patricia M. Grambsch in Statistics for Biology and Health series, Springer 2000. If you are a biologist and want a better understanding of the model, I highly recommend reading the following book first: Survival Analysis A Self Learning text by David G.
