We invite you to contribute to a series of articles that will accompany the BioC 2018 conference in the Bioconductor gateway on F1000Research. We are specifically looking for:

  • Cross-package workflows

  • Package-based vignettes that show how to solve a scientific problem end-to-end

  • Teaching labs

  • Benchmark studies

  • Methodological reviews

  • Perspectives relating to bioinformatics software

Articles will undergo the rapid and transparent publication process of F1000Research, and will be hosted collectively in the gateway. Versionable articles are published within a few days of your submission, together with associated source code and data, before open peer review by invited referees.

Article contribution is now greatly streamlined thanks to the recent contribution of the BiocWorkflowTools package and accompanying F1000research workflow by Mike Smith and Andrzej Oles. Authors may follow a workflow for submission that proceeds from Rmarkdown through the F1000Research Overleaf submission process.

The submission deadline for this collection is June 18. This is a firm deadline to ensure papers are published before BioC 2018. The F1000Research support team for this effort includes Holly Murray and Michael Markie. Articles will be published as and when they are ready, and we expect all contributions to be published prior to the BioC 2018 conference.

If you are interested, please record your information here. Or if you need any more information please contact the F1000Research team at research@f1000.com.

What about a large workflow that uses Bioconductor along with many other (non-Bioc and non-R) tools? Would that still be in scope? You can have a look here: https://github.com/DarwinAwardWinner/CD4-csaw

I would suggest that as long as there can be some focus on how bioconductor tools facilitate the analysis, the workflow would be a nice addition.

I have a cross-package workflow which was approved by referees a few weeks ago: https://f1000research.com/articles/7-121/v2

I would love for it to be part of BioC 2018 - is that possible even if it was published before the call?

Can we put a link to this announcement on the Bioc2018 site? I keep having to use Google to find my way back to this announcement.

it's done

I opened an issue on github https://github.com/Bioconductor/BioC2018/issues/9 if you want to make a more explicit suggestion.
