I know how NES is calculated in GSEA method using ClusterProfiler. But I don't understand its utility ?

I have read some where (in borad institute paper) that NES is used to calculated the false discovery rate (FDR). So in ClusterProfiler how NES is used ? And how p.adjsut ise calculated ?
