We are looking for a Research Associate to implement, and then run, a resource within the Norwich Medical School to process next generation sequencing data using best-of-class bioinformatics pipelines. The pipelines will be made available as Docker images and the resource will be run on a high-performance computing cluster.

You will part of the Cancer Genetics team at the Norwich Medical School, which is an interdisciplinary team comprising a mixture of bioinformaticians and lab-based scientists. We have a broad interest in translational cancer based molecular studies with the aim of improving patient care. The Cancer Genetics lab plays a central role in the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) Prostate UK group and played a pivotal role in setting up the Pan-Prostate Cancer Group (http://panprostate.org), a collaboration between all the major prostate cancer sequencing projects in the world.

You will have a graduate level qualification or equivalent experience in computer science or a numeric biological discipline. Experience in running bioinformatics pipelines on high performance computing clusters and container technologies such as Docker images is also advantageous. You should also have an enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary environment and have the ability to interact and communicate effectively with scientists from other disciplines, including clinicians, scientific computing IT, and biologists.

Closing date: 8 August 2019.
