Researcher Responsible of the project: Montserrat Tor?. The IMIM Foundation (IMIM-Hospital del Mar) has developed a competitive research programme, and trained highly qualified research personnel in the fields of biomedicine and health sciences. Our research is categorised into five multidisciplinary programmes, organised around the following themes: Cancer, Epidemiology and Public Health, Cardiovascular and inflammatory processes, Biomedical Informatics, Neuropsychopharmacology. The centre is run by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), and since October 2006, has been located in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) in downtown Barcelona, Spain, on the Mediterranean seafront. The PRBB has a growing research community, with people coming from different countries, and a critical mass in bioinformatics and molecular biology fields. OFFER DESCRIPTION We are looking for a highly motivated microarray data analyst with experience in statistical analysis, computer tools and molecular biology to support various genomic studies for researchers at the IMIM Foundation in Barcelona. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full cycle of microarray data analysis projects with a set of public, licensed and in-house bioinformatics tools. He/she will incorporate in the Scientific and Technical Services (SCT) and will closely interact with other world-class bioinformatics analysts, molecular biologists, immunologists, statisticians and computer programmers in a well established bioinformatics environment. CANDIDATE PROFILE MS/Ph.D Degree in bioinformatics or molecular biology; New Postdoc is encouraged; Proved expertise in one or more of following biological data analysis fields: microarrays, splice variants, SNPs, array CGH, cis-elements, and miRNAs; Strong background in molecular biology; Working knowledge of Linux/UNIX/Windows and popular bioinformatics tools (e.g. Partek, R/Bioconductor, BLAST, etc.); The communication capability to interact with biologists, statisticians and computer programmers in a cross functional environment; Some knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. Perl, Python, Java). Preferences: Knowledge of oracle databases and novel bioinformatics algorithm development is a plus; Good publication record is desired.
