A three?years Ph.D. student position is available in the group of metabolomic of the FiorGen Foundation in Florence www.fiorgen.net). The research facility is located @ CERM Center of Magnetic Resonance of the University of Florence (http://www.cerm.unifi.it/home/). The Ph.D. is in the frame of The International Doctorate in Structural Biology that is in collaboration with the Biozentrum of the University of Frankfurt and the Bijvoet Center at the University of Utrecht. (http://www.cerm.unifi.it/home/programs/internationaldoctorate.html). The research project is focused on NMR-based metabolomic studies of biological fluids for metabolic fingerprinting of several diseases. This is a strong multidisciplinary research project: experiments (sample preparation/ NMR spectra acquisition), statistical analysis and data interpretation will be part of research routine. The successful candidate should have a training either in Chemistry/Biochemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Statistical sciences. Programming skill in Matlab and/or R would be preferable together with excellent communications skills and the ability to work on a variety of projects with scientists from a range of disciplines. Please send a complete Curriculm Vitae to mail at fiorgen.net, clearly stating ?Application for Ph.D. in Metabolomics? in the mail subject. I like several features of simpleaffy;'s hmap.eset, but it demands an AffyBatch as input. Any ideas about how to coerce a data frame or something, into an AffyBatch (one way to achieve compatibility) would be much appreciated. Tom
