Job Description
Molecular and Computational Toxicology Group within the Department of
Comparative Biology and Safety Sciences at Amgen is looking for a
motivated informatician or computational biologist to contribute to
its toxicogenomics and predictive toxicology programs. The successful
candidate will work with the group at Amgen's Seattle Site for an
initial period of 6 months as a Research Scientist, Sr. Associate
Scientist, or Associate Scientist, depending on candidate's
credentials and experience. He or she will join our efforts on the
implementation of a variety of computational approaches and tools to
analyze genomics as well as other complex data sets in order to help
develop new toxicity screening paradigms for use in drug development.
Specific tasks include integrating and mining historical data, and
developing new methods for identifying mechanisms of actions related
to toxicity in preclinical setting.
Requirements: A Masters or Ph.D in Bioinformatics, Mathematics,
Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields with 3+ yrs working
experience is required. Proven knowledge in molecular biology,
statistics, and databases is expected. Working experience with high
volume data such as microarrays and programming with Matlab or R is
also expected.
