The timecourse method plotProfile outputs a profile for a gene of a given rank. When I combine this with a loop I can print out the top n ranked genes. Is there a way to output the list of gene names to a text file somehow, rather than to an image? I've gone through the package documentation and none of the methods seem applicable. 

The gene names are passed to the plotProfile method, so I have them, I just don't have any way of accessing the corresponding ranking.

plotProfile(MB.2D, type="b", gnames=genenames,  pch=c("1","2","3"), xlab="Hour",ranking=cycle1)
