An opportunity has arisen to join the Computational Systems Epigenomics lab, led by Professor Andrew Teschendorff, based at the Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health, which is part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Our lab has an interest in elucidating the role of epigenetic changes, notably DNA methylation alterations, in aging and cancer predisposition. The specific role of the postdoc position may include (1) to develop novel computational strategies for cell-type deconvolution of DNA methylation data, (2) develop novel computational strategies for cancer risk prediction from multi-modal single-cell omic data, and (3) develop novel computational strategies for building cell-type specific epigenetic and transcriptomic clocks. Our lab has pioneered many of the existing methods, in 2023 receiving a prestigious Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher Award. We collaborate extensively with leading research groups in the US, China and Europe. Thus, the job is an excellent opportunity for a recent PhD graduate to publish high impact papers and grow their international academic career and reputation in Computational Biology. More details about our research interests and past publications can be found here: https://aet21.github.io

Job requirements: A PhD in Statistical Omics/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or closely related computational/mathematical discipline. Excellent programming skills in R/BioC and Python. Proficiency in using linux OS.

The post starts in January 2025 and is initially for 2 years, but can be extended for additional years upon satisfactory performance. Initial annual salaries will be on the scale of ~ GBP 52,000 (RMB 500,000). Job comes with additional benefits, including subsidy for meals and accommodation.
