Hi All, Thanks for this wonderful set of packages and putting it under open source. Unfortunately I am having trouble installing some of the packages that come with it. The packages are: 'affyio', 'affy', 'genefilter', 'gcrma', and 'affyPLM'. This is the list after attempting to install using biocLite() with the default options. I am using R 2.3.1 on Ubuntu (Dapper). Any help will be much appreciated. If this issue was already discussed, kindly point me to the right place. I have just now become a member of this list and an initial search of the archive got me no result. Thanks, Saurav

Saurav, It is good to hear that you are joining the community. In order to be helpful, you will probably need to be specific about the problems that you are having (perhaps by cutting-and-pasting some of the output of the install process). Also, pretty much every post asking for help on this list benefits from pasting in the output of the command: sessionInfo() which tells the readers here what packages are loaded, their versions, and specifics of the version of R, all important pieces of information. Sean

You will probably need to install the zlib1g-dev (The compression library -development) package into Ubuntu to be able to compile affyio, the other packages just depend on affyio (or affy) Jan -----Original Message----- From: bioconductor-bounces@stat.math.ethz.ch [mailto:bioconductor-bounces at stat.math.ethz.ch] On Behalf Of Saurav Pathak Sent: dinsdag 22 augustus 2006 17:15 To: bioconductor at stat.math.ethz.ch Subject: [BioC] Problems installing Bioconductor Hi All, Thanks for this wonderful set of packages and putting it under open source. Installing zlib1g-dev and a few other Ubuntu packages indeed solved my problems.
