Post-doc position in Bioinformatics and Computational Systems Biology
of
Breast Cancer research at the Institut Curie, Paris, France
A postdoc position is open at Institut Curie in the context of the
GEPIG
(Genetics and Epigenetics of Tumor, http://gepig.curie.fr) project, an
integrated approach to profile Breast Cancer from model systems to
biological
resources.
Project:
This project is funded through the INCa (National Institute of Cancer)
and
Institut Curie. It proposes an integrated program to decipher genomic
and
epigenetic defects using a combination of complementary expertise,
tools,
models, and a unique tumor bank with the aim to improve the
understanding of
the biological mechanisms of tumor progression. A strong emphasis will
be
given to the generation and analysis of large sets of data in
particular
using new generation sequencing approaches.
This project brings together research groups from the Institute,
covering a
range of expertises from pathology (X. Sastre, A. Vincent Salomon) to
genetics (O. Delattre, A. Nicolas, M-H. Stern), epigenetics (G.
Almouzni,
E. Heard, F. Radvanyi, A. Taddei), bioinformatics and mathematical
modelling (E. Barillot).
The position is for a duration of 2 years with possible extension. An
immediate start is possible.
Mission of the postdoc:
The postdoc will work under the joint supervision of Dr Genevi?ve
Almouzni
(Laboratory of nuclear dynamics and genome plasticity) and Dr Emmanuel
Barillot (Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Computational Systems
Biology of
Cancer). She/he will be involved in the generation (experimental
design) and
computational analysis of data encompassing several levels of
observations
including transcriptome profiling (including small RNAs), DNA
methylation and
histone variants and modification analyses.
Profile of candidates:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background both in
bioinformatics/statistics and in molecular biology. Previous
experience in
sequence analysis will constitute an advantage. The candidate must
have a
strong capability to collaborate simultaneously with experimentalists
and
theoreticians.
Location: Institut Curie (http://www.curie.fr/), Paris, France.
Institut Curie is one of the largest European institutions for cancer
research with strong and longstanding interdisciplinary traditions.
The
existence of Curie hospital specialized in cancer treatment located on
the
same site, provides a continuum of expertise from fundamental research
to
patient care. Its situation in the center of Paris offers a unique
environment both culturally and scientifically.
