Hello friends, my question is: how could be the genes annotated using bioconductor, whose genelist contatining database is not present in the bioconductor. as i am working on toxoplasma gondii smd data and there is no database related to that. how could i do annotation to this kind of data. -- BUDHAYASH GAUTAM Assistant Professor Department Of Computational Biology And Bioinformatics, Jacob School of Biotechnology & Bioengineering (JSBB) Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHIATS)- Deemed University, Naini, Allahabad. Do you have gene annotation data from elsewhere? How would you like to use the annotation data once you "have it" in bioconductor? I think providing a bit more information on the problem you're trying to solve will get you some more useful hints from the community. -steve -- Steve Lianoglou Graduate Student: Computational Systems Biology ?| Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center ?| Weill Medical College of Cornell University Contact Info: http://cbio.mskcc.org/~lianos/contact

Hi Guatam, If you want a classic annotation package, then I am afraid that we don't have a simple solution for you yet. I am actually working on something that might help folks like you someday, but this is not trivial and involves some coordination of efforts with others to make it work. In the meantime, you might want to try the biomaRt package and see if you can find annotations for your organism through that interface.
