Hello, I think to use FastICA package for microarray data clusterization, but one question stops me: can I know how much variance explain each component (or all components together) ? I will be very thankful for the help. Thanks, Pavel [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

hi, If you want to know how much variance is explained by all of your components/ varaibles, then you can do a PCA in R (*prcomp* function). Like it can explain how much of variation, among the samples, is explained by all genes together; interpreted from the PC1 and PC2 returned. I am not sure whether the package FastICA has facility to do such. I haven't used it. best, amit m Graduate student IGIB, Delhi On Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 1:59 AM, Pavel Goldstein <dao4free@gmail.com> wrote: > Hello, > I think to use FastICA package for microarray data clusterization, > but one question stops me: can I know how much variance explain each > component (or all components together) ? > I will be very thankful for the help. > > Thanks, > > Pavel > > [[alternative HTML version deleted]] > > _______________________________________________ > Bioconductor mailing list > Bioconductor@r-project.org > https://stat.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/bioconductor > Search the archives: > http://news.gmane.org/gmane.science.biology.informatics.conductor > [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Amit, thank you for the answer. Do you think computed explained variance from prcomp will fit to ICA?
