A 3yr Research Fellow position is available at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. The Research Fellow will be part of the Mowry Group at QBI, whose primary research goal is to identify and functionally characterise susceptibility genes for schizophrenia and related disorders. One prime area of interest is whole exome sequencing and GWAS. The group has just been awarded significant Australian Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funding (2014-2016) for genetic analysis of de novo and inherited protein-coding sequence variation in schizophrenia (sequencing 1000 exomes initially ). The successful applicant will be expected to be involved in this project, and generally to provide expert advice to QBI staff and researchers from its collaborating groups. Together with the Group Leader, the appointee will help develop the strategic plan for the direction of the overall research program. Using high-level knowledge of research issues in the field, and incorporating current advances in knowledge of schizophrenia genetics, the successful applicant will be responsible for applying advanced statistical methods to the analyses of data in the genetics of schizophrenia.
