    I am using iClusterPlus to analyze multi-type genomic data. For expression data, the authors recommend using variance filtering to filter genes.In iclusterplus userguide, the author take the top 1740 genes for iCluster analysis. But I don't understand why 1740. Does it depend on the variance threshold or total number of genes? If the former, what is the variance threshold? If the latter, how many genes should we take from the total genes? We have more than 14,000 genes and 60 samples. And the minimal variance is 0.02085653, the maximal variance is 9.83237, how to filter?
