When using rHDF5 for reading of HDF5 files containing ragged arrays and trying to access those, I get the error that such "VLEN" data types are nont implemented. I'm already using the development version.

Is there a bitbucket/github repository one could install even cutting edger code from?

Is there any hope in getting access to such data types any time soon?

Is anybody working on this?

Sincerely, joh

Dear joh, unfortunately, there is no corresponding datatype for a VLEN structure in R. How would you like to represent a VLEN object in R? Can you provide me with a short example? Bernd

In my specific case the VLEN is (essentially) a list of numerical vectors with varying length.

I'm providing you with an example privately - maybe we can work something out.

Joh
