Description: A postdoc position is currently available at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (California) on a NIH-funded project entitled “Human pregnancy in health and disease”. The goal of this project is to examine the biology of human pregnancy in order to understand what biological changes occur in the mother’s blood during and after pregnancy – among both healthy women and women with an incurable autoimmune disease like rheumatoid arthritis, which improves naturally during pregnancy. The research will involve bioinformatics and statistical analysis of gene expression data (RNA-seq data), with multiple data points from each woman before, during and after pregnancy, and integration with other levels of omics data.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics or similar field, and must be proficient in statistical and scripting programming languages such as R. Prior experience in analyses of RNA-seq data and/or other omics data is a plus.
