Hi, I'd like to know if there are any changes in the annotation information for the mouse430a vs mouse430a.db packages for the Mouse 430 2.0 array and that for hgu133plus2 vs hgu133plus2.db packages for the Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 array. Thanks, Dorothy

Hi Dorothy, So all of the non-db packages have been discontinued and you won't see them in future releases. They have been replaced by equivalent ".db" packages. The ".db" packages should behave the same and contain the same kinds of information as the older ones. The biggest difference is that the ".db" packages will contain a real database inside, which gives us a great deal more flexibility in how these packages can be used in the future. So as an example, the mouse430a package has been discontinued, while the mouse430a.db package should contain the same kind of information as the mouse430a package used to. With each release of bioconductor, all of the annotation packages are updated, so the contents may change as we learn more about these genes.
