Hi, all I am new here and just started to learn bioconductor. I installed ROOT and xps. But when I loaded xps, I got the following messages: > library("xps") Error in inDL(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now), ...) : unable to load shared library 'C:/Users/haol/Documents/R/win-library/2.10/xps/libs/xps.dll': LoadLibrary failure: The specified procedure could not be found. Error: package/namespace load failed for 'xps' I work with Vista, R (2.10.0), ROOT (v5.18), and xps (1.6.1). Anyone has experience with this kind of problem? Any inputs will be highly appreciated. Dear Li, The error you get indicates that you have installed the wrong version of root. For Windows it is important to install the same version which is installed on the BioC servers to create the xps binary. Thus you need to install the following root version: ftp://root.cern.ch/root/root_v5.24.00.win32.vc90.msi To help people find the correct root version I have added the version number to: http://www.bioconductor.org/packages/release/bioc/html/xps.html where you can find it under "System Requirements". However, please note that currently xps works only on Windows XP but not on Vista or Windows 7. The reason for this is that R is compiled with MinGW while root is compiled with VC++. I am trying since some time to solve this problem and have asked at the R-devel mailing list for help, see: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2009-September/054843.html https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2009-October/055200.html https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2009-March/052830.html Sadly, until now I did not receive any answer which could help me to solve this problem. Thanks so much for your detailed reply, Christian. Hopefully that the problem will get resolved soon and Vista and Windows 7 will be able to support this library. For now I'll switch to Linux to get xps working.
