A grant-supported post-doctoral position is available in the Bioinformatics group located in Emeryville, CA. In this role, you will perform statistical analysis of expressed regions of the human transcriptome including the testing of biological hypotheses, development and calculation of performance metrics in control regions, collection of summary measures of transcript prevalence and comparison of transcriptional and annotation-based maps. Develop novel approaches for comparing and summarizing maps based upon multiple cell lines/tissues and different methods of sample preparation and signal analysis. Position is based in Emeryville. Travel of approximately 1 day per week to Santa Clara, CA may be required. Ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a Physical Science with a strong background in the development and application of data analysis in the field of molecular biology or genomics, microarray analysis, application of statistical methods and programming. Experience programming in Perl, S, S-plus or R in a Linux/Unix environment is desired. Strong analytical skills, communication skills and familiarity with microarray literature are needed.
