Dear Bioconductor developers, Did you consider submitting an application to the Google Summer of Code (GSOC)? The deadline for application submission is Friday! https://google-melange.appspot.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2013 Basically, Google pays a student $5000 to write code for an open source project for 3 months. The R project has participated in previous years, and this year I submitted the application form for R. Google asks "Are you an established or larger organization who would like to vouch for a new organization applying this year?" so I can do that for you if the Bioconductor project applies. To give you some idea of the questions they ask, this is our application for this year: http://rwiki.sciviews.org/doku.php?id=developers:projects:admin_applic ation_2013 -- output of sessionInfo(): > sessionInfo() R version 2.15.2 (2012-10-26) Platform: x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu (64-bit) locale: [1] LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC=C [3] LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8 [5] LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 [7] LC_PAPER=C LC_NAME=C [9] LC_ADDRESS=C LC_TELEPHONE=C [11] LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=C attached base packages: [1] graphics utils datasets stats grDevices methods base other attached packages: [1] ggplot2_0.9.3 RColorBrewer_1.0-5 lattice_0.20-10 loaded via a namespace (and not attached): [1] colorspace_1.2-0 dichromat_1.2-4 digest_0.6.0 grid_2.15.2 [5] gtable_0.1.2 labeling_0.1 MASS_7.3-22 munsell_0.4 [9] plyr_1.8 proto_0.3-10 reshape2_1.2.2 scales_0.2.3 [13] stringr_0.6.2 > -- Sent via the guest posting facility at bioconductor.org.
