I would like to use the buildKEGGmap() function from the package clusterProfiler, but the following error comes up

Error: could not find function "buildKEGGmap"

Is it possible to update the related help page, explaining which kind of input is required and please provide some examples?

Hi, please follow the example of http://ygc.name/2015/02/01/kegg-enrichment-analysis-with-latest-online-data-using-clusterprofiler/, to use latest online version of KEGG.

buildKEGGmap is not exported as I don't want user use it to download KEGG data since I am not sure whether it will violate the KEGG license or not.

You can use enrichKEGG function, which will download the KEGG annotation of specific organism and use it to test.
