Hello, I'm a researcher refining an RNA methylation workflow into a Bioconductor package. I'd like to release with the next release cycle (October 2022). When should I submit my package to do this? Is there a submission deadline for the October release? Finally, how long does the review process usually take? Many thanks.

Thanks. From here I navigated to the release schedule https://bioconductor.org/developers/release-schedule/ but it only shows dates for April. I'm more interested in October dates. Any ideas where to find this info?

I am not a member of the Bioconductor core team, but all new packages are subject to a lengthy review process before they are accepted, and most developers are asked to make changes to their packages. My advice would be to start the submission process as soon as possible to have a good chance of making the October Bioc 3.16 release. The exact Bioc 3.16 release date is not yet set but you can basically just add 6 months to the Bioc 3.15 release dates. Last year, the official final possible submission date was 1 October ( New Package Submission Deadline for Bioc Release 3.14 ) but I suggest you would actually need to submit months earlier.

You can get a sense of how long reviews take by looking at the current submission queue: https://github.com/Bioconductor/Contributions/issues

Note that questions about package submission should be sent to the Bioc-devel mailing list: https://stat.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/bioc-devel rather than to this support forum.
