Hi,

As the name implies, longestConsecutive() finds the longest match of a character efficiently in Biostrings. I dont know any other alternative as fast as longestConsecutive() but it has been depreceated in version 2.72 (Bioconductor version 3.19). I wonder why it has been depreceated and not replaced? Is there any better alternative?

Thanks in advance!

I had no idea someone was using this, sorry.

Un-deprecated in Biostrings 2.72.1 (BioC 3.19) and 2.73.1 (BioC 3.20). The new versions will take a few days to propagate and to become available via BiocManager::install().
