Hello all, There has been a number of recent requests for binary CEL file support. I appreciate that many of you have analysis projects requiring such support. Currently the code is undergoing stability testing. Preliminary support should be publicly available in the development version of the affy package sometime next week (an announcement will be made). Please be patient. Thanks, Ben

A similar question: is the old style .dat still available from the Affy GCOS software, or has that changed as well. For those who may not already be aware: There is a beta CEL file converter available from Affymetrix that will convert CEL files from binary to ASCII, and vice versa. My understanding is that the .dat is the same for the intermediate future, but that Affy is planning to convert all files to binary within the next year or so. Jim James W.
