The Multiple Myeloma Research Laboratory (Dr. Dirk Hose) of the Multiple Myeloma Section (Prof. Dr. Hartmut Goldschmidt), Department of Internal Medicine V and National Center for Tumor Diseases at the Heidelberg University Hospital, in cooperation with the group of Wolfgang Huber at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) invites applications for the position of a Bioinformatician (full- time). The position is initially limited to one year, extension envisaged. We provide the opportunity to obtain a doctorate degree. The Multiple Myeloma Research Laboratory focusses on the development of prognostic factors and novel therapeutics in the treatment of multiple myeloma, a malignant plasma cell disease which is still rarely curable. Dr. Huber’s group works on the development of statistical and bioinformatics methods in genomic analysis. Your responsibilities: · Analysis of high-throughput sequencing data (RNA, whole genome, whole exome) · Analysis of gene expression data (microarrays) · Development of a software allowing the generation of a clinically applicable report based on RNA-sequencing data analogous to our GEP-R (cf. Meißner et al., Clinical Cancer Research, 2011), within a BMBF funded project Your profile: · University degree in natural sciences, mathematics or information technology · Excellent knowledge of bioinformatics, especially in expression and high-throughput sequencing data analysis, and statistics (including R and Bioconductor), · Strong background in web development and client/server architectures · Interest in scientific issues · Fluent in written and spoken German and English · Ability to work both independently as well as in a team · High degree of commitment and flexibility Payment and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TV-L (salary agreement for public service employees).
