The ETH Zurich core facility NEXUS Personalized Health Technologies enables discovery and translational research for personalized health. The pillars of NEXUS are two closely integrated units: Clinical Bioinformatics and Theragnostics Discovery. We are recruiting for its multidisciplinary team, to commence October 1 or by mutual agreement, a bioinformatics scientist.
The mission of Clinical Bioinformatics at NEXUS is to translate expertise in bioinformatics and statistics into biomedical research and clinical applications. The primary focus of this position will be the development, integration and application of NGS data analysis pipelines for research and molecular diagnostics, typically in a clinical setting. Furthermore, this bioinformatician will be involved in a project on the automation of literature mining in order to recommend treatment options. NEXUS collaborates with various academic institutions and Swiss hospitals. The position is fixed term.
The successful candidate has a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, and has demonstrated experience in biomedical, genomics, or integrative research projects involving high-throughput molecular data sets. He or she is familiar with high-dimensional genomic/transcriptomic data and its processing. Additionally, he or she has an innate knowledge of modern analysis methods for next-generation sequencing data. Proficiency in HPC, strong programming skills as well as solid knowledge of R and Python are requirements. Experience in data warehousing, molecular biology, clinical consulting or clinical trials is a plus. The applicant should have excellent communication skills in English and German.
