Dear all,

this is not necessarily a R/BioC related question, although if someone could help it would be extraordinary :

Please could you advise  whether you know a way to keep a file in the computer memory for the next processing step, instead of writing it to hard drive ?

More specifically, I am using Varscan2 in order to call the somatic variants in the cancer genomes. And, for Varscan2, I would like to keep the germline and tumor mpileup files in the computer memory for the next processings steps (ie variant calling), instead of writing them on the disk.

thanks,

bogdan
