Is it possible to extract the expression of a single group without making comparisons?

Hello everybody. I'm currently gathering samples from different stages of a disease, and right now, I've got 150 RNA samples from patients in the Pre-treatment stage. I've also got the .cel files from microarray experiments.

I'm wondering if it's possible to figure out the gene expression of these samples without having to compare them to something else.

In the past, I've used the Transcriptome Analysis Console for this kind of work. However, when I try to analyze only the Pre-treatment group, the software doesn't let me proceed. It seems I always need to compare it with something, like Pre-treatment vs. control, to get the analysis to work. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

This forum is to help people using Bioconductor software and we can't trouble-shoot problems with the Transcriptome Analysis Console (TAC). If you were using Bioconductor then there wouldn't be any problem of the sort you mention.

If you choose to use TAC then you have to live with its limitations, see

Hi. Yes. I was using TAC but I now I am using bio conductor and hta package from bioconductor. But I have the same results if I try to extract the data.

There is no package called "hta" on Bioconductor.

If you are using Bioconductor packages, then you need to show the code you are using so far and explain at what point you are having a problem.
