Dear BioC team,

I noticed that the current release AMI for Bioconductor 3.5 ships with a version of RStudio server that is not compatible with R 3.4. When RStudio server is started, it displays an error message and the plot viewer is disabled.

This is not a problem caused by R or Bioconductor, but on RStudio Server's side and RStudio fixed this incompatibility in their latest release in April, see e.g.:

Perhaps the Bioconductor 3.5 AMI could receive the RStudio server update?

Our AMI's for Bioc 3.5 and Bioc 3.6 have been updated.  It should now include the updated Rstudio 

Thank you for making us aware of this issue.  We will update our version of Rstudio provided with the AMIs;  it will probably be a few weeks for the update to take place.
