UNC Charlotte Dept. of Bioinformatics is seeking new members as postdoc researchers and PhD students. The incumbent(s) will work on big data integration and analysis, methodology development, and contribute to a range of challenging and important research projects in biomedicine.   

We integrate and analyze a variety of big data sets from biomedical research & applications. And we develop statistical/analytical methods, and implement them into software packages or web servers. Some of them are widely used by tens of thousands of scientists over the world:

We apply big data and advanced analytics to solve important and complex problems in biomedicine. For example, we recently were working on autism, a complex brain disorder, using big data + novel analytics approach

Technical skills:
Solid statistics/analytical training  
R or Python  
Unix/Linux shell  
R package (or software) development is a plus  
Machine learning is a plus  

Other qualifications: 
Genuine interest in research and analytics  
(For postdocs) Proven research/development experience, publication records  

Education: 
Bachelor or advanced degree in statistics/biostats/applied math, computer science, bioinformatics or related fields.
