Hi Bioconductor Community,

We would like to update the EBSeq package, which was initially introduced on Bioconductor almost 10 years ago. It is slow when handling datasets containing a big number of groups. To address this issue, we have optimized the codes and algorithm and achieved remarkable speed improvement. The newly optimized package can be found at https://github.com/wiscstatman/EBSeq.

The original maintainer of the EBSeq, Ning has left the lab, so we are not sure of how to proceed and appreciate your advice regarding the package update.

Every package has one or many maintainers. I would email them first (see https://bioconductor.org/packages/release/bioc/html/EBSeq.html for contact address) or make a PR at their GitHub (https://github.com/lengning/EBSeq), but if it's notable changes I would email first and see whether they're responsive.

Thanks, but I am also from the same lab and there is only one maintainer. Wondering if Bioconductor could also assign me as a maintainer, so that I could push the updates.

Is it possible to have the original maintainer email at bioc-devel@r-project.org saying they allow the maintainer update cc'ing the new maintainers? we can proceed from there.

Hi shepherl, I have updated the repo in the devel branch and the latest build report is ok (https://bioconductor.org/checkResults/devel/bioc-LATEST/EBSeq/). May I ask if there is anything else I need to do in terms of updating the package?

No that is all. Cheers.
