I am very interested the course offiered "BioC 2017: Where Software and Biology Connect" and am wondering if something similar will be held in 2018. I noticed that upcoming events are advertised 6-8 weeks in advance. However, I need to plan out my training for entire fiscal year ahead of time. Will this course or a similar one be held in the future? Thanks!
While I'm not an official representative, I can point out that these things have happened pretty much every year during the summer since I've been "Bioc-aware," which was from about 2008 or so.
In particular, select the "Show 'All' entries" option on the table pagination widget on the top left of the table there, and look for the Bioc20NN entries, where NN is the year.
That'll take you back to 2014, but you can even click the "year links" at the bottom to find materials from bioc conferences from years before that.
Anyway, you can almost be sure that it will happen. The exact content will be different, but the themes (types of presentations) will be of the same flavor ... a mix of invited talks and some hands on workshop stuff.
The information for the conference is usually published many months in advance, on the 'Events' page of the Bioconductor web site; courses are announced in the six-week time frame.

I just stumbled across this post while googling "bioc2018" so here's the link: https://bioconductor.org/help/course-materials/2018/BioC2018/
